Our students do not stop learning in the classroom. When our troubled teens boarding schools residents are not in school, they engage in other learning environments like recreational therapy to put into practice the skills they acquire at Red Hawk. Some of these learning settings include psychotherapy with a certified clinician, EAGALA-certified equine-assisted therapy, recreational therapy with trained staff, and social skill development activities. At our boarding school in Arizona, girls enjoy recreational therapy activities that instill independence, life skills, teamwork, and problem-solving.
Part of our boarding schools recreational therapy program is Equine-Assisted Therapy in the Eagala Model. This provides a powerful treatment center option for a wide range of issues. Building influential relationships with the horses help troubled teens learn critical relational skills and tools that help build healthy relationships with peers, parents, and authority figures. Horses can even read people better than people who interpret one another. Troubled teens boarding schools therapists at Red Hawk use the experience between an adolescent and the horse to find new ways to provide powerful teen therapy intervention. The interaction between the teen and the horse helps girls become self-aware of issues that cause stagnation and confusion. Equine-Assisted Psychotherapy sometimes can reach girls where conventional teen recreational therapy cannot.
It’s critical to find the right diagnosis and set of treatments that will allow her to thrive if she is not progressing in a traditional school setting. Our girls residential treatment program has a small student base might be just the thing to ensure her growth here. We understand that the last thing you want is for life controlling issues to control your daughter’s life, and our key to success will be to effectively confront her (negative) beliefs about herself!
Our residential treatment center offers recreational therapy and knows how to help her heal, and improve her physical and behavioral health at Red Hawk Academy. Give us a call now, 435-236-5423.
